Tips For Jewellery Care

Care for your Gold jewellery
  • Avoid sleeping with your jewellery on, especially fine chains and bracelets.
  • Periodically wash jewellery pieces in warm soapy water or take it to your jeweller for a routine clean-up
  • Avoid heat and hot water on jewellery as they can loosen the settings.
  • Avoid strong smelling foods to prevent tarnishing on gold jewellery
  • Avoid wearing too many chains together as they can scratch each other and spoil the piece

  • Care for your Silver jewellery
    • Silver is best stored in a cool, dry semi dark space
    • Avoid wearing your silver jewellery when exposed to chemicals or chlorinated water
    • Do not use tissue to clean silver as it can leave scratches
    • Use light soap solution to wash your silver jewellery followed by drying with a soft cloth

    Care for your Diamond jewellery

    • Diamonds are forever but they do loose their sparkle if not cleaned once in a while. Get a professional to bring the sparkle back to the diamond
    • Soak the diamond jewellery in warm soapy water for some time, run a soft brush over it and rinse it thoroughly to remove the grease
    • Diamonds chip the most when they strike against other diamonds, so try not to wear too many diamond rings close together or to store diamonds close together without covering them individually
    • Diamond regularly worn can get loose in its setting. Take most worn diamonds at least every year to the jeweller to see if the prongs are loose. Diamonds are precious; it is worthwhile to care for it.

    Care for your Pearl jewellery

    • Put on the pearls after applying make-up, perfume and hairspray
    • Wipe your pearls with a soft, damp cloth every time you remove them after wearing
    • Store your pearl jewellery in a silk or velvet-lined box, separated from hard jewellery, to prevent them from getting scratched.
    • Take your pearls to the jeweller for re-stringing about once a year to prevent strand breakage
    • Keep your pearls happy by wearing them often. Contact with your skin will rehydrate them and help them to retain their natural beauty.
